Creative, Free-Spirit Seeks Sincere Partner
WHAT PEOPLE NOTICE FIRST ABOUT ME: My outgoing nature. I can be quite bold at times, but can also be very demure. I am *always* candid, however, so you'll never wonder what I'm thinking. I am very giving as well. I like to always be doing something but can, with the right energy, quiet down for a nice movie in. Although I am living in the city, someday I will move back to the farm where I was born and raised, and where my horse currently resides -- that's the "country heart." Also, I'm red-headed (with all that goes with that) and opinionated, so if you can't even read this whole ad, you can't handle me.
I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT: So many things. Conservation and the environment, preventing ecocide, gardening, animal welfare, good beer, dive bars, touring breweries, weekend road trips, good music and live concerts, dancing (I specialize in swing, salsa and foxtrot, but not "club" scenes), antiquing, riding my horse. Just ENJOYING LIFE in general, and not waiting for it to just happen - you must make it happen! =) Could I be passionate about you?
WHAT I WANT IN ANOTHER PERSON: Basics: prefer [but somewhat open] caucasian or asian, aged 30-45, shorter better (under 6'), but Ht./Wt. proportionate. I prefer slim/almost skinny or "toned" and in shape, able to keep up with me, and not thick (i.e. not 1/4 the size of one of my horses...). PLEASE BE: Smart (but not an intellectual snob), fun (but not a player), witty (but not sarcastic), active (i.e. not a couch potato, but not necessarily a rock climber), interesting/quirky (eclectic tastes are good; video games and tv sports are not), open (to new ideas and exploring the earth/wknd road trips, etc.), and caring. If you seriously seek and are willing to work to develop a LTR, can be faithful, and want to meet someone who is not like other girls--nice, pretty, fun, smart, mature, open-minded, kind-hearted, and giving, who is not pretentious and is (relatively) independent, read on. All others, seriously, please move on.
I LOVE TO SURROUND MYSELF with things that have character, & that are unique. I love things that have a history, and a story of their own to tell -- OR MAKE! I am nothing if not that - someone who makes my world happen and is not willing to settle for the norm -- I literally chase sunsets and don't just wait for the world to spin around to me! That said, if I have to stand in line to do something (especially a "trendy" thing?), I probably won't do it. (caveat: roller coasters) You must be the type that can pick yourself up by your own boot straps, dust yourself off, and get back on that horse if you fall (I am, and am the type that will be there to ease the pain and (metaphorical) bruising if you do). A self-made man would be perfect for me if they weren't overbearingly cocky (I'm a bit of a southern belle, don't you know). Jeans to tux, it doesn't matter what you wear as long as you get excited to see me (I'll be in occasion appropriate clothes, and always comfortable with who I am).
KEY INGREDIENTS (for my partner and life, I think): He should be honest, have integrity and sincerity, and live by the Golden Rule. He should be passionate -- about life, love, and ME! (eventually of course) He should be caring, affectionate and giving, and willing to love completely (and be loved and receive all these things in return). He should be willing to be generous: of his time, his caring of me and others who are important in his life, ...and in bed. These are just a few traits. He should have a good sense of who he is and know with some certainty at this point what he wants out of life and a relationship -- and be able to express it (whether we get the "ideal" version is another matter, because the universe often does not totally agree with us... (why I list preferences but am open as well...)). He must be able to share hopes, fears, physical pleasures, and LIFE with me. Must also be FUN! Adventure-seekers, world travelers welcome! I like making plans a few days or weeks in advance, but am very open to spontaneity (trips, concerts). He should want to hike, explore, and maybe help save some other species on spaceship Earth.
LAST, but IMPORTANT notes: GREEN a SERIOUS plus (anything less or wasteful is offensive/a turn-off to me, really). Strong aversion to mall-based/mindless consumerism, celebrity anything, and mean-spiritedness. While I love and find family important, I am just not a breeder. Must like both the activities of the city (shows, etc.) AND getting away to the country (*NOT* the burbs), and willingness to live elsewhere someday a big plus too. (say, Laos?)
My favorite physical activity is: Hiking, dancing (mentioned above the types I specialized in, but ballroom in general - I don't go nearly enough). Also horseback riding (prefer equestrian jumping but currently settling to trail ride), just walking around one of DC's neighborhoods on any occasion.
My favorite Washington haunts are: I could go on and on, but pretty much though? Anywhere in the city (yeah smoking ban!), where there's no line, it's not super-packed or that you have to yell or breathe through clouds of perfume and cologne, where there's good beer, maybe some oysters, and you can just belly up to the bar and have a drink with friends and strangers alike.
If I could change one thing about DC, it would be: The "me only" mentality that seems to have taken over this town, and most urban areas across the country, unfortunately. What ever happened to common courtesy? The "country heart" I'm talking about? That's geared toward not liking the consumerist society, detesting seeing new ant-colony suburbs go in, and lamenting the loss of nature.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: There's not much that isn't on my sleeve or on my mind. But I have been adventure-traveling for years, seen much of way the world really looks (not by locking myself in some all-inclusive resort and complaining about the beggers), and I have gained a lot from those experiences. Particularly? Knowing first-hand how lucky we are!!! Also, I *never* send meat back to the kitchen -- something died to be there on my plate, so I don't take that lightly. Oh, and I'm a total "closet" geek!
The last concert I went to was: God, too many to have to update. for now: Deleted Scenes, 33 Black Angels, Shiny Toy Guns, Metropolitan, the Drones, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Army of Me, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Public Good, Snow Patrol, Ben Folds, Apples in Stereo (last show ever), Washington Social Club, and pretty much any indie show is a reason to go out to local venues...
My favorite cartoon to watch as a kid was: Thundercats! (I just thought their floating skateboards rocked!)
My favorite place to relax and be myself is: On a horse, or on the dance floor. Lately it's hiking, sitting on my porch swing with a glass of port or good beer, or working in my gardens. Or maybe in your arms?
What kind of music makes you cringe? Rap and hip-hop. And I guess it was inevitable: I used to say I was not too big a fan of country either (even though I have a "country heart"), but I've been listening to it lately. Also, Caveat: country music in a diner while on a road trip in the middle of nowhere? Definitely required. =)
Thoughtfulness lights my fire and candor burns the house down.
I wouldn't sell my parents' farm for a billion dollars.
The quickest way to my heart is sincerity The quickest way to my bed is take me there and make an honest effort to ensure I've enjoyed it (so you'll be invited, and spoiled, again and again) and in the morning, I like my eggs cooked ; not fertilized.
Something I said I'd never do but did anyway was kiss a guy with facial hair. And don't even think I'll write to you if you don't have some detail and pics up on your profile, as I do.
It's Sunday morning at 10 a.m. If I'm not sleeping, I'm doing a home improvement project, or getting ready to go antiquing (if not already on a roadtrip somewhere). If at the farm, with the horses. Better yet? Spooning and enjoying quality time with the man I love. =)
I consider myself an open-minded person, but my deal breakers are dishonesty, not following through with promises and people who let you down (all related. e.g. Please don't say you are a nomad but prefer to stay in/sleep; don't say you are "giving to a fault" but actually selfish; don't say UR str8t but want/ever had a penis in your mouth. Please?).
My ideal mate has the brain of Fox Moulder and the body of a dancer. (Note: not marathoner or sports fanatic. I want to actually spend time with you; not be a sports widow.)
For me, the glass is usually full of Belgian, porter, or stout beer. Occasionally wine, mead, port (aged tawny), or tej.
Everything I learned about trust and nurturing relationships I learned from raising my horse (and of course, Mom).
Two things I can't live without are passion and spontaneous fun!
When I die, I believe I will be scattered on my farm.
My guiltiest pleasure is dancing. It's the one socially acceptable form of exhibitionism -- not that I go a lot, but when I do, I'm good at it! (so if you don't dance, don't be the jealous type -- or be willing to learn...).
So many fun things is what I love about DC, and traffic, roads, and pretentiousness is what I hate about DC.
My new favorite restaurant is I don't want to say because then the yuppies will find out and I'll have to find a new spot. Again.
My beverage of choice is milk served with spaghetti (this is weird, I know, but I don't want you to think I'm a lush!).
If you are what you eat, then I am um, neighborhood strays from my local take-out??
When I go to a trendy or frou-frou bar I feel like a fish out of water.
If you like me, you'd better like campfires, live music, and waking up with me on Saturday mornings! (at a minimum to maintain a relationship with me)
The movie that spends the most time in my DVD player is none. I'll watch movies occasionally (not in theaters), but I'd sooner be out living my life than watching someone else's story.
